Port Shinas’s expansion since 1996 serves as a prime example of the Sultanate’s rapid economic development in recent decades. Asyad launched commercial operations in April 2019.
Port Shinas maintains a particular focus on aquaculture, livestock and general agricultural trade, benefitting from its favorable geographic position close to the mouth of the Arabian Gulf, and its close proximity to neighboring GCC countries and the Musandam Governorate. The port serves local traders, who have benefitted from expanding import and export capacity covering raw materials, manufactured goods and building materials. Port Shinas is also increasingly positioning itself as a hub for the Sultanate’s extensive ferry network.
